Upon application, DAAD offers support for events either organized by former DAAD scholarship holders or events in which former DAAD scholarship holders take part.
Funding is available for events that:
offer an academic or specialist topic for participants.
provide study counseling and scholarship preparation for students and scholars in the USA or Canada.
provide support for German scholarship holders in the USA or Canada.
foster social and professional networking to benefit DAAD alumni.
A substantial number of DAAD alumni must be participating in the event. We also encourage events which bring DAAD alumni together with other "Germany Alumni" (Fulbright, AvH, etc)
Type and extent of support for events:
Assistance in finding suitable lecturers and speakers.
Grant towards the costs of the event.
Partial funding is available for events which foster social and professional networking.
For major events, funding may also be made available for transportation, accommodation and meals for DAAD alumni.
Personal contributions by participants and/or financial contributions by third parties are key criteria in deciding the financial support to be provided by DAAD.

Event proposals can be submitted at any time, although, as far as possible, they should be placed 2-6 months before the scheduled start of the event (the larger the event, the longer the advance notice required).
