We are still working to improve this feature. In the meantime, the only available option is "for sale" - but alumni are invited to also list permanent and temporary rentals as well.
Only alumni who are logged in will be able to view housing postings. DAAD may also grant access to these postings to DAAD grantees from Germany who are coming to the USA or Canada to do study or research. They are often on the lookout for housing during their stay in North America, so DAAD would like to offer them the extra service of being able to view (but not post) housing available through DAAD alumni.
